**Updated to 5-stars - Felicia (Supervisor) called almost immediately after this review went up - validated my concerns (ie. confirmed with system notes, that I wasn't crazy), checked everything was good now on my end, and will use the experience as coaching points. This one call has completely changed my view** Terrible broker. I was "assigned" to them when I signed up for CAA insurance (via CAA's website). In the last two weeks alone, I've had to follow up with several different agents on my request (updates to my policy, because the initial set up was also incorrect for deductible, coverage, etc). It's almost as if the agent listens to my words, says they'll get to it and call back, but in reality just hang up and move on. I mean, they're all super friendly on the phone, but actions speak louder than words, and there hasn't been much action on their end. Easily the worst insurance broker I've interacted with.

How does CAA MyPace work?

The program is optional and available to all insured drivers with a CAA policy. It’s for drivers who travel less than 12,000 km per year. Here is how the program works:

Get a car insurance quote for your base rate for CAA myPace – you can pay this monthly or upfront.
You then purchase insurance in 1000 km increments.
You plug a tracker into your vehicle to track the distance you drive.
Download the app the monitor your usage on your smartphone.
MyPace will automatically reload the next 1,000 kilometres.
You save more the less you drive.
MyPace only is interested in kilometres driven. It does not track your driving habits.

Get the CAA MyPace device and app

Once you have enrolled in the CAA MyPace program you just need to do a couple more things to get started:

1) Install the CAA MyPace device

The program requires you to install the MyPace device in your vehicle. Installation is simple. Here’s how to install a CAA MyPace device:

Enrol in the program.
You’ll receive a welcome package with your insurance policy.
You’ll receive your device along with installation instructions.
Plug the device into your OBDII port.
Install the device within 48 hours of the policy effective date.
You view your usage through the online portal or through the CAA MyPace app.

Installing the MyPace app is a similar process to the installation steps for other apps. Steps may vary based on your phone type (iPhone or Android). Here is what you do:

How much does CAA MyPace cost?

There are no costs to sign up for CAA MyPace, including the mobile app and device you install in your vehicle. You will be required to pay a base premium (you can pay upfront or monthly) for the first 1,000 km.

CAA MyPace rates are based on the industry standard factors used by all insurers to determine your rates. These factors include your driving record, vehicle, driving experience, and how often you drive. This will determine your base premium, which you will only pay a portion of based on the distance you drive.

CAA uses a sliding scale to determine your discount based on your driving distance. You can save money If you drive less than 12,000 kilometres per year. Here’s how it works:

Should I get CAA MyPace?

CAA MyPace is ideal for people who do not drive a lot. If you use less than 12,000 kilometres per year, then this is a program to consider. It's great for people who work remotely from home, have a home business, are retired, or live in the city and use public transportation to commute to work.

What coverage is included with CAA MyPace?

What is the CAA MyPace base rate?

All coverage under the MyPace program has a base rate. This is the amount you will pay to insure your vehicle while it’s not being driven. You have the option to pay for this base rate upfront or monthly. You will then only pay additional premiums each time you reach 1,000 kilometres.

Do all types of vehicles qualify for CAA MyPace?

Not all vehicles will qualify for the program. Some are not compatible with the device used to track your kilometres. Here are the vehicles that do not qualify:

All vehicles older than 1997
Diesel vehicles 2005 or older
Electric vehicles
Some models may be incompatible for unforeseen circumstances

These vehicles do not qualify because the device cannot be plugged into the vehicle.

Is CAA MyPace available in all provinces?

MyPace is not available in all provinces. It’s currently available in four provinces – Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward island.

Can I cancel MyPace at any time?

Yes. You can choose to opt out of the program at any time. Speak with your agent or broker to complete the cancellation process.

Can I use CAA MyPace and Connect at the same time?

No, you cannot combine MyPace with CAA Connect. You can only be part of one program. Consider which program is best for you based on your driving needs and potential savings.
